Timber Window & Door | Replacement Project

A crucial factor to this replacement project was upgrading the old timber windows and doors with improved performance features such as energy efficiency and air tightness. However, maintaining the original slim, elegant design of the windows and doors was critical to keeping the historic appeal of the building.

Creating A Dream Home With Traditional Windows & Doors

The Signature Traditional Wood Windows & Doors by Marvin Architectural were specified by the client for this replacement project.

Maintaining consistent sightless with the windows and doors was crucial for the client. To achieve this, Signature increased the size of the bottom rail and top rail of the casement windows on either side of the french doors.

Modern Day Performance Combined With Historic Aesthetics

The finger-jointed multi-layered wood provides both greater structure and durability to the windows and doors as it is resistant to warping. This is in stark contrast to the original timber windows and doors in the home which were often difficult to open and close due to poor design.

The slim profile of the double glazing allowed the homeowner to reach exceptional thermal performance without compromising on aesthetics with unappealing heavy frames. The Low E coating, argon gas and warm-edge spacer bars in the double glazing vastly decreased energy consumption and improved overall comfort in the home.

The 18mm glazing bars with Lamb’s tongue profile was specified on all of the products throughout embellishing balance, symmetry and harmony.
